Lanier Middle School

Lanier Middle School is filled with good people. A public school, it has teachers, administrators, and support staff who — being key — together work to make the school operate. Early every morning, I encounter teachers preparing for the day’s work, these professionals reminding me of the public schools in Midland, Michigan, that I attended through seventh grade more than forty years ago. My education in Midland as well as from memorable teachers at the Brazosport Independent School District make me a supporter of public schools. The best education should not be reserved for the wealthy. On Friday when helping to distribute packets of report cards, I witnessed in one classroom after another, as if I were glimpsing separate movies, a teacher in action before their students.
